Tech Tool Evaluation

Kevin's tool= https://www.mentimeter.com/
MkZ's= http://evernote.com/
Menitimeter

  1. Mentimeter was very simple and took no time at all to use.
  2. Mentimeter designed the graph for you so there was no need to take the time designing and changing the look of the graph and presentation.
  3. Mentimeter can be used for a big corporation and show the data of a poll very easily.
Evernote

  1. With evernote you don't have to worry about deleting something because it's saved on evernote.
  2. Evernote allows you to access the system on almost anything.
  3. You can search something in a search box when your evernote file is so large.
Mentimeter drawbacks

  • Mentimeter doesn't allow you to adjust the background, which can make it look boring because everyone's looks the same.
Evernote drawbacks

  • Evernote has a huge problem, competition. Evernote is just another cloud system which can do the same things as many others can like the icloud.
Ways to use them.

  • For Mentimeter, I could set a poll for the company I work for on anything, from a serious agreement or for food choices in the cafateria.
  • Evernote can be used when I have a essay on my ipad and need it on my laptop also.

The Cloud

Prior knowledge
I know that the cloud is a information storing place where you can send information on one device and retrieve it on another that is enabled on to your cloud.
Q's
What devices can connect to the cloud? Who created the cloud? What server started cloud technology, as in Google, apple, or Microsoft?
INFORMATION

  • Microsoft, Apple, Google, and even Amazon has a cloud service.
  • Google and Microsoft's cloud servers are mostly for blogging and emails, but include word processors and online file storing.
  • Before the cloud it is just a giant pool of data, but then once divided into different servers it becomes a cloud.
  • A cloud can be attached to a network of computers sharing information and software to all of them.
  • Apples icloud let's you buy or download something to all devices at the same time automatically.
  • Microsoft sells a cloud server for $0.08 an hour or $58.40 a month for 1 GB.
  • On the icloud by Apple you can still attach a device with windows 7, a Microsoft invention.
  • Apple sells icloud servers for 55 GB for $100 a year or just 5 GB for free.
  • Cloud computing is defined as  Internet-based computing in which large groups of remote servers are networked so as to allow sharing of data-processing tasks, centralized data storage, and online access to computer services or resources.
  • Cloud computing dates back to 1996 when a group was trying to make computer history.
  • The network-based computing dates to the 1960's
  • The first time cloud computing became a real term was in 2006

RELATION
I use the icloud myself. My parents set up an icloud account and we all share our music, pictures, and movies there. When I download an app or a new song it directly goes to all devices which is the best part of the icloud.
LAST Q
Who really started and invented the cloud computing system?

Today my only goal is to test and fully understand the application software I downloaded.
I had a post but it didnt save.

Google day 2

Goals
Today I'm going to download an app software, decide the type of app I will make and test the features of this software.
Links
http://happmaker.sourceforge.net/version1.html
This is a link to the information of the software I downloaded and this will show me what it's features are and
http://happmaker.sourceforge.net/tutorial.html
This is the tutorial page which came very handy due to the fact without it I was very lost and confused.
TODAY
Today I realized how hard app making really is. It takes countless hours to find the right software, then once you find it you have to download the updates. After the updates are completed you have to go through the tutorial pages to understand the software.
Next class
I'm going to use this software and start my app next time. This will take awhile to learn the software, but I will eventually understand it.

Youtube Quiz Feature

This site teaches how to use the youtube quiz feature. This feature allows you to make a quiz inside a video so they can be more interactive.
In the process of learning this I also learned you need an account, real videos, and you can't steal videos without the legal consent of the original video up loader.
I learned through this how to edit videos through the video editor, but without an original video of mine I can't add questions to it or make in interactive.
I did however make a video with the editing tools I was able to use. It isn't very good, but it is all I had.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?edit=vd&v=55fSdlYOeog
This video I made was in the process of being uploaded so I'm not sure it finished, but here it is anyway.

Digital Nation

  1. I disagree with people using computers all the time because they will distract you from the world.
  2. I agree with college kids can be distracted by the laptops in class because they are not learning with them.
  3. I agree that college kids can multitask well, because I know I can do this well and some of them know what they are doing.
  4. I disagree with people cutting off their technology because computers can be very helpful and fun.
  5. I disagree with people saying kids are always on computers because kids just want to stay informed with people and things.
  6. I disagree with this film saying computers could be bad for us because whether everyone gets told technology is bad for us we'll just keep moving forward in technology.
  7. I agree with kids being addicted to video games because video games are more than just computers, but are a new world that kids want to use and are very fun.
  8. I disagree with the digital free camp in Korea because i really don't believe they'll stop using computers and technology.
  9. I agree with kids learning how to use computers in elementary because then they'll know how to use it right and complete.
  10. I agree with teaching the kids in the Bronx to use computers is good because they'll need computers when their adults.
  11. I disagree with spark notes because then you can't grasp the real understanding of a book.
  12. I disagree with them saying we're slower and dumber than the past people because we are farther advanced than they could have been.
  13. I agree with the fact that the world is going through a technological revolution.
  14. I agree with using the internet as a connector because now you can talk to people you haven't seen in years at any time.
  15. I disagree with people playing World of Warcraft because people just loose their real lives by not pulling themselves out of the game.
  16. I agree with advertising in virtual games because that does get attention even though it didn't work for the Coke company.
  17. I disagree with people working at a virtual gaming company and using it all the time because that can get them hooked and stolen from the real world during and not during work.
  18. I disagree with people testing kids and making them believe things they have never done because that kind of stuff can throw a kid off when they are older.
  19. I agree with using technology in the military for practice because that can help soldiers visualize whats going to happen.
  20. I agree with soldiers flying drones because they can do the same thing as if they were in the plane yet never die.

Viruses

I know that a virus infects your computer and can cause it to fail, but that's all I really know. Viruses are very  dangerous and can be protected by antivirus software.
Questions?
How do you get a virus?
If you get a virus can you get rid of it after your computer is infected?
Is sending a virus illegal?

http://www.infoniac.com/uimg/virus-alert-sign.jpg
Info

  • Viruses corrupt and delete data on your computer
  • Viruses usually come from attachments on emails
  • Viruses can be disguised as anything; pictures, videos, audio, or a download
  • A virus can come as a Trojan horse or worm. Trojan Horse- a computer program that is hiding a virus. Worm- a virus that can be received and spread without people starting it.
  • Viruses first infect the computer then copy itself again and again.
  • In the U.S. it is illegal to make a virus, but in most countries it is not illegal. However it is illegal to spread a virus in most countries.
  • You can stop a virus by using antivirus software and updating it frequently.
  • There are software's called rogue security software that can be viruses or make you think you have a virus to make you pay more to get rid of it.
Relation
Viruses can ruin my computer. My dad always makes sure nothing happens and keeps the antivirus software updated and managed. I have yet to have a virus, and plan on keeping it that way.
Last Question?
How can people create a virus and disguise it?

Google day 1

3 Goals

  1. download an app software.
  2. learn the steps to making an app.
  3. learn how to make money from apps.
I learned how app making works, but didn't get to the steps. I found many app making sites, but by the time I reviewed them it was time to go. I have decide to do a basketball quiz app and made all the questions.
I want to learn how apps can make life easier next class.

Google 20%

I want to make an app. I plan on making an app that's simple like a noise button. This app needs to be simple and yet not stolen from a popular app already out. To make an actual app I need app software and need to decide what kind of software I'm going to use. Theirs Android and iPhone software's so I need to learn the difference between them. I plan on making an iPhone app which seems easier to what I know.
Of course being an app I can simply show everyone my app. Not to be just to short I can talk about the steps to make an app. I will talk about the things I learned and how I didn't really know anything before starting to learn this. Then I will demonstrate my app. I will let others test it out to see if they enjoy it too.
